UX Design

Marketing Cloud Standard Editing Model

The Marketing Cloud UX team was part of an initiative to define a basic model of the Marketing Cloud's objects, actions, and message types. This effort was launched off the Standard Configuration Model (SCM) foundation, helping drive alignment and consistency across product and engineering stakeholders. The documentation acts as a resource on how to think about the application and how to construct the repeatable building blocks that extend our tools.

With the launch of mobile messages in Content Builder, there were two different editing experiences in the Marketing Cloud. The Standard Editing Model, as seen below, is a framework that aims to make a distinction between these two experiences — the Single-block and Multi-block Message Editors. The patterns and components in each experience exist in parallel to establish a consistent UI and workflow, yet are tailored to the needs of the users in which the creation is occurring. Additionally, this document is used as a guide during design and implementation to ensure pattern usage remains consistent.
